The Publishing House and its History

Founded in 2004, minedition is a relatively young publishing house. However, Michael Neugebauer himself looks back on nearly 50 years as a publisher of internationally acclaimed picture books. His father published picture books of the highest artistic standards from 1964 to 1976. In 1979, Michael Neugebauer founded his own publishing house in Salzburg, the Neugebauer Press. High quality illustrated picture books for children and adults by internationally recognized authors have since become his trademark.

Program

Michael Neugebauer sets high standards concerning text and image. »We value children greatly; they deserve the very best in design and the best texts and illustrations.« With this publishing philosophy, a diverse program has been developed which is currently divided into two major areas.
The artistic program includes storybooks, classics, and catalogs of artists’ collected work.
The picture book program shows a broad range of styles and subjects. Some picture books, due to their subject matter, are well suited to kindergarten and school needs. Many craft and activity ideas, developed by educators, can be downloaded for free from the publisher's website. Board books for children have also grown into an important part of the publishing program.

Illustrators and Authors

International as the publishing house itself, the artists give minedition its face. Lisbeth Zwerger from Austria, for example, and Kveta Pacovská from the Czech Republic, Robert Ingpen from Australia, Eve Tharlet from France, Ayano Imai, Yusuke Yonezu and Chisato Tashiro of Japan. Also Feridun Oral from Turkey, Jonas Lauströer and Sybille Schenker from Germany, Marcus Pfister from Switzerland, Nikolai Popov, Anna Morgunova and Yana Sedova from Russia, and John Rowe from England,Giuliano Ferri, Agnese Baruzzi from Italy, just to name a few.
The authors include among others, Brigitte Weninger from Austria, Bruno Hächler from Switzerland, KNISTER from Germany, Jane Goodall of England, Sueli Menezes from Brazil, Géraldine Elschner from France, and Kate Westerlund from the USA.
